Regional Expert Meeting PDF
activities_2_small.jpgRegional Expert Meeting took place on November 18th-19th in Budva, Montenegro. The Expert Meeting hosted the environmental experts from six countries/ territories involved in the Western Balkans Environmental Programme, programme beneficiaries and partners such as representatives of the national and local governments, management authorities of the remediated sites, civil society organizations, etc., as well as representatives of the international community. During the meeting participants had an opportunity discuss the importance of regional cooperation in reducing pollution and remediating the “brownfield” sites located in the Western Balkans, to present the results and the achievements of the Western Balkans Environmental Programme, and to discuss the national challenges and priorities, as well as next steps for further regional cooperation in this area.

Non-virtual Programme Management Board Meeting PDF

pmb_meeting.jpgThe fifth Programme Management Board (PMB) meeting, but the first non-virtual one, was held on 24th June in Montenegro.

The goals of organizing the meeting were threefold:

a) To present and discuss about the Environmental Hot Spots Project Proposal submitted to MB IPA; b) To discuss the draft concept of the regional expert workshop to be held in late October or early November this year; and c) To discuss the theme of the third and final regional study tour which will be policy orientated one (regional study tours organized so far were of more technical nature).

Environmental Monitoring and Field Surveillance Training Held PDF
presentation.jpgRegional Environmental Monitoring and Field Surveillance training was held on May 6th–7th at the Hotel Iberostar Bellevue Bečići, in Budva, Montenegro. Participants in the Western Balkan Environmental Monitoring and Field Surveillance workshop were practitioners involved in conducting, planning or assessing environmental monitoring and field surveillance as well as stakeholders from six countries/ territories involved in the Western Balkan Environmental Programme (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, the FYR of Macedonia, and UNATSCR 1244, Kosovo). The purpose of the workshop was to present a regional snapshot of the participating countries/territories in relation to the environmental monitoring and field surveillance conducted and needed, and to provide participants with further skills through training in environmental monitoring and provision of tools and resources.

Regional Team Meeting on Study Tour Exchange Experience, Programme Progress and Team Building PDF

dec_ws_1.jpgRegional Team Meeting on Study Tour Experience Exchange, Programme Progress and Facilitated Team Building was organized from 9-11th of December 2008 in Montenegro, promoting information sharing in the region on: a) how implementation of different remediation activities within the programme is affecting/changing environmental management practices in the countries in the region, b) how to follow up by individual countries/territories or in groups on contacts, knowledge and information gained on the regional study tours attended; c) how to use this regional programme to raise awareness and knowledge on environmental issues locally (in communities), nationally (in countries/territories) and in the region (Western Balkans). To make the most use of the information that were collected at each study tour, to ensure regional exchange/information sharing and to expose countries to the widest number of environmental management ideas, a follow up information-exchange workshop was organized, at which each country/territory presented and shared with others the lessons learnt, ideas, experiences gained during the study tours and follow up planned.
