Environment and Security Initiative – Transforming risks into cooperation in South Eastern Europe

image_envsec.jpgIn the framework of the  Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC) – www.envsec.org - UNDP Montenegro started with the implemented of a new programme called – Transforming Risks into Cooperation in South Eastern Europe.

 The ENVSEC Initiative is a partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nation Environment Programme (UNEP), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Regional Environment Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC). The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has joined the Initiative as an associated partner.


New Publications
new_picture.pngIn the three years lifetime of the Western Balkans Environmental Programme, 11 hot spots sites have been remediated. Recognizing the importance of sharing information and experiences to strengthen capacities at the regional level, two publications have been prepared: Case Studies on Remediation of Environmental Hot Spots in the Western  Balkans and Final Report 2007-2010.

Promotion of the Documentary movie"Western Balkans, 8 Steps Forward"
news_promotional_event_custom.jpgThe promotion of the documentary movie “Western Balkans – 8 Steps Forward” produced by the WBE Programme was held on June 11th, 2010 in Podgorica, Montenegro. Programme beneficiaries and stakeholders from six countries/ territories involved in the Western Balkans Environmental Programme (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and UNATSCR 1244 Kosovo) as well as representatives from the Netherlands Embassy in Belgrade were guest to this final event organized within the regional hot spot programme.

Programme Progress Meeting

news_custom.jpgThe final Programme Progress Meeting has been held on Friday, 11th June in Podgorica, Montenegro. The main goals of the Programme Progress Meeting were to exchange information on the results and impacts achieved in all participating countries/territories and of the regional component; to show the difference the Western Balkans Environmental Programme made during the last 30 months, to compare the situation before and after the interventions and to emphasize the benefits and impacts of the programme results.
